Membership in the Society provides
access to an extensive network of Japanese and American companies,
government agencies, and local institutions. Members receive the
monthly Japan Calendar, which lists all upcoming
Japan-related events in the area, and the Corporate
Memo, which advises members of opportunities of special
interest to the business community.

U.S.-Japan Business Forum |
Throughout the year, Business Forum
programs present leaders in business, government, and academia from
both sides of the Pacific who address current issues in the U.S. -
Japan relationship and their impact on our region's business
climate. Topics range from discussions of general trade relations to
"how-to" programs targeting specific industries. Some business forum
programs are open only to corporate members.

Each corporate member receives an annual
directory of all corporate member representatives and their business
services. This directory is not available to anyone other than
corporate members.

orientation: Japan |
Experts in Japanese business and
cultural practices lead this half-day orientation program designed
for executives traveling to Japan. Tips on negotiating procedures
with Japanese companies and clients as well as appropriate social
and business etiquette are discussed. Individualized in-house
sessions can also be arranged.

Japanese language classes |
The Society's own language program
provides all levels of instruction in three 12-week terms during the
year. Corporate members may also arrange for in-house Japanese
classes with an experienced teacher provided by the
Society.

Japan Society of Boston assists
companies in finding translators, interpreters, and other
specialized business services. We also maintain a resume file of
bilingual professionals available for short-term projects and
permanent employment.

This Annual Luncheon brings together
business and government leaders and academic experts to promote
discussion about bilateral business concerns. This year, Kazuo
Inamori, Chairman of Kyocera Corporation of Kyoto, shared his ideas
on the direction that US-Japan Business relations will take in the
twenty-first century.
