Introduction to more complex structures and broadening of vocabulary, while still emphasizing practical communication. In addition to gaining ease in reading hiragana and katakana during Intermediate I, you will also begin to learn kanji. By the end of the intermediate sequence, you will have learned all of the fundamental grammar of Japanese, and be familiar with "respect language," or keigo, and about 300 kanji. Students must take a placement test prior to registering for this level unless they have completed the beginner classes at the Japan Society of Boston. | ||||||||||||||||||

The aim of this class is to prepare for Advance levels after finishing Intermediate classes. You will review and practice the most important grammars, vocabularies, kanji from the previous levels and improve Japanese conversation skills. Intermediate VI is a prerequisite. | |||||||||||||||||||

This level is focused on improving fluency, broadening vocabulary, learning to use idiomatic expressions, and mastering more complex reading through the course text. Course content will be modified to accommodate student needs and interests. Prior knowledge of basic Japanese grammar and a minimum of 300 Kanji are required. All applicants must take a placement test before registering for this level unless they have completed the intermediate classes at the Japan Society of Boston. | |||||||||||||||||||

This class is for for those who have passed the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 2 or above. The focus is to gain fluency in reading and discussing complex issues. Registrants must speak with the instructor or JSB language coordinator before joining the class. Minimum knowledge of 1,000 kanji required. | |||||||||||||||||||
