Japanese
Language School
The Japan-America Society operates the oldest and largest Japanese
language school for adults in the Washington DC area. Many of our
students say that it is also the best.
The Japanese Language School (JLS) teaches Japanese at nine different
levels, from beginning to advanced. Once a year JLS also holds
preparatory classes for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT),
which is recognized worldwide as the standard examination for
determining Japanese language competency.
Class semesters begin three times a year. All classes are conducted in
the evening in the Society’s language classrooms. The Society
is conveniently located near both the Farragut North and Farragut West
Metro stations in downtown DC.
The teachers are all qualified native speakers of Japanese. The adult
students are of various backgrounds and ages, but they all share an
interest in Japan.
