Casual Panel Discussion:
"Words to Live By/Living & Teaching in Japan"
Feb. 23 at the campus of Case Western
Thanks to our wonderfully articulate and honest panelists!
The panel was a great success--20 or so individuals attended and had a chance to ask our panelists about the trials and rewards of having lived and taught or worked in Japan. A selection of topics included: How to get your foot in the (company) door, visas sponsorship, internships, housing issues, culture shock, reverse culture shock, reasons for going and leaving, insurance coverage, tax filing, scholarships, joining expat communities, avoiding expats, language barriers, language acquisition, cultural sensitivity and how to learn to laugh at yourself--just to name a few. Spcial thanks to JASNO member Peggy Fitzgerald for use of CLAPP Rm. 108 at Case!
Stay tuned for more casual panel discussions and email us with ideas for them!
