Thinking Outside the Box - Japanese Obento Workshop This full-day workshop is designed to introduce Japanese culture to K-12 educators through the life of a lunch box, "Obento."
It's a Wrap: Furoshiki Style! On Earth Day 2009, 28 local educators completed three hours of lectures and hands-on demonstrations by JASP personnel about the furoshiki, Japan's ancient and now very trendy wrapping cloth. |

Japan
Artifact Box
Designed to be easily accessible by
any K-12 educators without special training in Japanese
related topics, this program features a "Box" containing
original cultural items from Japan, which is available
through mail upon request. The
Box also contains a description for each item as well
as background information regarding its use. The Box
can be borrowed for use by educators, librarians and
community organizations for up to two weeks. Upon
receiving the Box, educators are able to design their
own lesson plans to teach about Japan by utilizing
the original items and the self-explanatory pamphlet
in the Box which works for all age groups.
