On
Earth Day April 22, 2009, a group of 28 local educators completed
three hours of informative lectures and hands-on demonstrations
by JASP personnel about the furoshiki, Japan's ancient and
now very trendy wrapping cloth.
JASP
ED Wendy Bennett gave historical perspective on these handy
and decorative "green" cloths, Carrie Smith discussed
non-Japanese wrapping solutions and Reiko Nakajima and Kiyotaka
Hasegawa shared wrapping techniques.
Together
we brainstormed lesson plans and challenged each other how
to incorporate what we learned into teaching many ages and
grade levels about Japan.

this workshop and be sure to check back here for upcoming
Act 48 opportunities.

Furoshiki history and techniques. See them here.
