The Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania (JASP) is pleased to offer the Japan Artifact Box (JAB). Designed to be easily accessible by any K-12 educators without special training in Japanese related topics, this program features a “Box” containing original cultural items from Japan, which is available upon request through mail. The Box also contains a description for each item as well as background information regarding its use.
The Box can be borrowed for use by educators, librarians and community organizations for up to two weeks. Upon receiving the Box, educators are able to design their own lesson plans to teach about Japan by utilizing the original items in the Box which works for all age groups. JASP docents may also be able to travel on-site to schools to present the materials in conjunction with the teacher.
If you are interested in borrowing the Japan Artifact Box, please fill out a request online or complete the following information and return the form by fax, mail, or email.
Goals/Student Outcomes The goal of the Japan Artifact Box is to promote understanding of Japanese culture and language for American school children and consequently enhance the overall quality of education about Asia.
