Masahiro “Max” Yoshimura, Attorney & CPA, explained the highlights of the new U.S.-Japan tax treaty and its potential influence on the U.S.-Japan business community at this Financial JASIG.

Dr. Yasuhiro Maehara, General Manager in the Americas Bank of Japan, Chief Representative Office in New York, spoke on Japan's Economic Recovery: Still a Long Way to Go? at this Financial JASIG.

David Harvey, a former executive of Mizuho Securities and Director of the Asian Finance Group, spoke about Mizuho Financial Group (MHFG), which is poised to enter the global Top 5 financial groups by offering the comprehensive, innovative financial services that will lead to a new age for the financial markets.

Todd Schneider, Deputy Financial Attache at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, visited from Japan to lead a discussion on the status of financial sector reform in Japan and developments among the major Japanese banks, including pending bilateral financial services issues between the US and Japan.

This JASIG featured Akira Tanaka, Assistant Director of the Development Bank of Japan, leading a discussion on some of these new opportunities and explains how businesses can secure low-interest loans for entering the Japanese market.

The first Financial Services JASIG featured two experts from the Frank Russell Company, Warren Thompson, Chief Corporate and Government Relations Officer, and Brian Golob, International Counsel, discussing the upside and downside of finance in Japan and how things are likely to change in the future.
