| Meet students like yourself who are studying Japan and Japanese language. Then, tell us what you like about studying Japan and Japanese language! - Wendy Ho, Silver Creek High School
San Jose, CA My name is Wendy Ho, and I am a senior at Silver Creek High School. I have taken Japanese for four years now and my fascination with the language never seems to cease. One of the primary reasons why I decided to learn the language is that I watched a fair amount of Japanese animation before high school, and I wanted to know what the heck Ranma was saying! I thought the language was cool. Besides that, I thought learning a language from the Pacific Rim would help me in my career choice of business and provide opportunities that would not be available to me otherwise. Not surprisingly, learning Japanese has opened up many doors. Among these opportunities was the Japan Bowl, a national competition surveying contestants' knowledge of Japanese language and culture. I was lucky enough to be chosen as our team's captain and led our team to an eighth place finish in a pool of about twenty-five teams from all over the nation. Totemo omoshirokatta desu yo! |
