There is a thriving Japan studies community worldwide supporting Japan-related education. The following associations and organizations provide teachers with Japan-related resource materials, events and networking opportunities.

The Association of Teachers of Japanese (ATJ)
ATJ is an organization of scholars, teachers, and students of Japanese language, literature, and linguistics. ATJ gives scholars the opportunity to exchange academic and professional views, results of research, and news of the field. It holds an annual meeting in conjunction with the Association for Asian Studies, as well as offers reviews of teaching materials and a job line.

Association of Asian Studies (AAS)
The Association for Asian Studies (AAS) is a scholarly association for persons interested in Asia. It offers information about fellowships, study abroad, job openings, meetings, and seminars. AAS facilitates contact and exchange among scholars to increase their understanding of Asia.

Council on East Asian Libraries
CEAL makes it easier for you to locate Japanese-language materials for your classroom or research. CEAL'S Japanese Text Initiative is working to make Japanese classical literature available on the web!

The Japan Foundation Language Center
The Japan Foundation's Japanese Language Institute actively supports Japanese-language teaching in the United States at all levels. JFLC offers teacher training, teaching materials, grants for assisting in the production thereof, and information services. Does your school teach Japanese? East Asian Studies Studies Center
EASC is a U.S. Department of Education National Resource Center, assists in the coordination of teaching, research, and outreach activities on East Asia. EASC designs both language pedagogy and culture workshops for East Asian collegiate specialists, K-12 educators, and students.

ERIC Educational Information
Provided by the U.S. Department of Education. Includes collections of lesson plans, ERIC searches, ERIC Digests, AskERIC Infoguides, and much more. Search keyword "Japan" on AskEric to access lesson plans, research and journal articles.

National Clearinghouse for US-Japan Studies
The National Clearinghouse for U.S.-Japan Studies, an adjunct-ERIC Clearinghouse, specializes in providing educational information about Japan. Their main audience is K-12 students, teachers, specialists and curriculum developers. Search for K-12 lesson plans on Japan by subject and student level.
