KKC Alumni Japan Prize
Announced All
former fellows are invited to submit a powerpoint (or
similar type) presentation using the theme of "My trip to Japan and its impact on my students
and community". Entries may not be longer than 5
minutes with no minimum viewing time.
Cash prizes will be presented to the First, Second and Third Place winners and
their respective schools. The award for First Place is
$300; Second Place $200 and Third Place $100. Fifty
percent of each award should be shared with the fellow's
school (or former school) to
purchase Japan related teaching materials.
Submission
Deadline. Presentations should be saved to a CD and be able to
be opened/viewed by a Windows computer. Please include
your name, year of fellowship, email and postal addresses, and
the school information for the award. Entries must be
received by November 17,
2007. You will not receive confirmation of
receipt. Send your
entry to the JASP, 600 Grant Street, Room 444,
Pittsburgh, PA 15219-2703. Please call Elise Moersch at
412-433-5022 if you would like to know if your entry has
been received.
Award Announcement:
The winning project will be announed at the 2007 KKC Alumni
Event in San Diego. Winners do not need to be present to
win. A showing of all three winning presentions will
follow. All entries will become the
property of the KKC and not
returned.
2007 Fellowship
Review
From July 3-12, eleven educators
from the United States and Canada took part in this
year's fellowship program. The program aims to give
educators firsthand experience that will help them
accurately report on current conditions in this nation after
returning to their home countries.
The ten day itinerary included meetings and
visits with The Oriental Economist; the Panasonic Center
Tokyo; the Hakuhodo Institute of Life & Living; Omron
Corporation; Tokyo Super Eco-Educational Policy Research;
Hasuda Minami Jr. High School; Central japan Railway Company;
Economic Policy Burea I; Nippon Keidanren; the Association of
Japanese Animations; Tokyo Anime Center; Tokyo Metropolitan HS
of Science and Technology; Kiba Store and the Oppama Plant of
the Nissan Motor Corporation. |

Alumni Reception
A reception
for all KKC Alumni and educators interested in
applying for the 2008 fellowship will be held on Friday, Nov. 30 from 6:30 -
8:00 pm in the Gaslamp 2 room at the Omni
San Diego Hotel. Please rsvp to Elise by
