NAJAS had three objectives in mind when putting this program together: 1) to commemorate the start of NAJAS 30th anniversary with a stimulating symposium, 2) to have the symposium coincide with a portion of the Kennedy Center Japan Festival, and 3) to appropriate the time needed to have a full Annual Meeting and Board Meeting.
The speakers represented a wide range of specialties, from US-Japan exchanges to pop culture. Professor John Dower provided a fascinating historical perspective, using the extraordinary digitalized images he has collected over the year (see the MIT website). The keynote speakers discussed the state of the relationship, and the panelists spoke from their own areas of expertise. Please download the program below for more details.
