    Specializes in providing educational information about Japan. The main audience is K-12 students, teachers, specialists and curriculum developers.
   
  Stanford Program of International and Cross-cultural Education
    Conducts and promotes interdisciplinary research on key global and international issues.
   
  Global Awareness Program
    Provides social studies teacher training programs and curriculum about Japan.
   
  The Core Knowledge Foundation
    Conducts research on curricula, develops books and other materials for parents and teachers, offers workshops for teachers, and serves as the hub of a growing network of Core Knowledge schools.
   
  East Asian Curriculum Project
    Offers lesson plans, workbook, guide for history and social sciences, and abundant resources on teaching materials.

    Provides the information of Japan related links, K-12 resources, organization both in the US and Japan, studying Japan, etc.
   
  American Forum for Global Education
    Offers leadership and assistance to school systems, state departments of education, and colleges and universities, by initiating hundreds of programs and developing educational materials, teacher training seminars and publications to guide and implement these programs.
   
  Japan Information Network
    Provides extensive information on Japan and links to virtual tour of Japan, maps, statistics and Puzzle Japan.
   
  The AsiaPacificED Program for Schools, The East West Center
    Provides K-12 educators with opportunities to experience Asia and the Pacific region firsthand.
   
  Japanese-Related Projects at Purdue University
    Brings you Computer-Assisted Technical Readings System, and other useful tools.
   
  Mid-Atlantic Region Japan-in-the-Schools Program
    Sustains a resource center, organizes and conducts in service and continuing education programs and workshops, provides consulting services, conducts a cultural education leadership program, and engages in cultural education program evaluation.
   
  The National Children's Museum
    An exhibit that gives children the opportunity to explore a busy Japanese street with bustling shops; "ride" on the Shinkansen (the famous Bullet Train); walk though an authentic Japanese home with a traditional tatami room and garden; and, experience a Japanese classroom with a variety of self-directed activities. Museum Closed for Rennovations. Scheduled to open in 2009.
   
  The Children's Museum
    Interactive exhibitions and programs for children. The museum holds special workshops and educational kits to teach children about Japan.
   
  East Asia Resource Center, University of Washington
    Organizes teacher workshops, summer institutes, public programs, publishes teaching materials about Japan. "Modern Japan: An Idea Book for K-12 Teachers" available.
   
  Seattle Art Museum
    Slide library, school tours, and art reference library. Education department offers teaching workshops on Asian art.
   
  The Wing Luke Asian Museum
    A Self-contained teaching aid about Japan for K-6 teachers, includes background information, craft projects. Materials divided into five separate units; geography, clothing, literature, children of Japan, toys and games.
   
  National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
    NCSS is dedicated to the promotion of social studies and its role in preparing students for citizen participation in public life.
   
  Asian Educational Media Service (AEMS)
    Has a list of audio-visual educational materials on Japan. Each listing is accompanied by a brief description of the resource, appropriate grade level, and detailed ordering information, including the address and price.
   
  Sasuga Japanese Bookstore
    A book source for elementary, secondary, and university educators who teach about Japan.
   
  Japanese Section of Asian Division, Library of Congress
    Former Japan Documentation Center, developed an information management system and a database of over 5.000 items that includes source materials in fields such as economics, commerce and industry, law, politics, the environment and social conditions, is now serviced by the Japanese Section.
   
  Programs in International Educational Resources East Asian Studies
    Provide programs and services designed to broaden understanding of global, international, and world regional issues.

  The Association of Teachers of Japanese (ATA)
    An international non-profit organizations of scholars, teachers, and students of Japanese language, literature, and linguistics.
   
  Association for Asian Studies
    The association seeks through publications, meetings, and seminars to facilitate contact and an exchange of information among scholars to increase their understanding of East, South, and Southeast Asia.

  Grant/Exchange Programs & Training
   
  The Japan Foundation and Language Center in Los Angeles
    Provides comprehensive assistance for Japanese Language education throughout the United States. The Nihongo Library offers titles in Japanese Language Education with limited volumes in the humanities.
   
  Exchange: Japan
    Programs for teachers and students of the Japanese language-teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language, Language Concentration: Intensive Japanese, and Intensive Japanese for High School students.
   
  American Cultural Exchange
    Teacher training workshops in English as a second language and in "Natural Approach" to teaching foreign languages for children/adults. Customized programs for training professionals available.
   
  The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA)
   
    Offers a multi-year initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about Asia in world history, geography, social studies, and literature courses.
   
  Washington Academy of Languages
